The much-anticipated Tacloban Causeway Project is shaping up to be a game-changer for Eastern Visayas! Designed as an alternate route for motorists traveling between the city’s commercial district and the airport, this innovative infrastructure aims to cut travel distance, reduce commute time, and lower vehicle operating costs.

Project Overview
This ambitious development features a 2.56-kilometer, four-lane road embankment, with a central bridge connecting key locations. The project will also include:
✅ Dedicated bike lanes for cyclists’ safety
✅ Concrete canals for efficient drainage
✅ Sidewalks for pedestrian access
✅ Wave deflectors on both sides to combat coastal erosion
Construction Progress
The project is divided into 21 phases across two main areas: Magsaysay and San Jose (Airport side). Here’s the latest update on its progress:
📍 Magsaysay Side (Phases 1 & 2): 34.97% complete
📍 San Jose (Airport Side): 49.88% complete

🔹 Embankment development
🔹 Placement of armoured rocks for structural reinforcement
🔹 Laying geosynthetics to stabilize the foundation
🔹 Box culvert construction for water flow management
Target Completion
The Airport Side (Phase 1) is expected to be finished by August 2025.
